About Ali

Certified Play & Creative Arts Therapist

I am passionate about supporting children going through difficult times and seeing them grow as individuals through the gentle and safe contained process of non-directive play therapy. I believe that all children and young people must be given opportunities to aim high and achieve their full potential in all aspects of life, whatever their circumstances. With the right approach, the barriers between a child and their ability to emotionally, socially and academically thrive will be reduced. The child or young person will be able to grow with the essence of a secure and trusting inner resource and a true sense of self.

I have also undergone further training so I can bridge the gap which can arise between parent(s)/carer(s) and their child(ren). I am very excited to be able to offer a comprehensive and manageable parent-child attachment play (PCAP) support service to aid in the building of stronger relationships.  My next steps are to provide a supporting therapeutic service for families and the wider community from bump to parenthood to strengthen bonds and make a positive difference for a child’s and their family’s future.

Experience

I have experience of working with children and young people presenting with a range of challenges. I was a volunteer counsellor for two years with an organisation supporting adults and young people dealing with substance misuse and then worked in a WSCC schools' therapeutic service for four years. In 2015, I decided to branch out on my own as an independent therapist and work in schools, Child and Family Centres and private practice.

My ethos aims to secure a quality service by continually enhancing professional development, reflective practice and creativity.
